Week #31:
Unit: Analyzing & Comparing Form & Structure
Bell-Ringer:
10 minutes of independent reading
Warm-Up:
Read and analyze the song, Behind the Clouds.
Learning Intention:
We will learn how to read like a writer and examine a
writer’s craft by reading and analyzing the short story
Black Blizzard by Maurine V. Eleder.
We’ll do this so that we can write a short story that
develops real or imagined experiences or events using
effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and
well-structured event sequences.
We’ll know we have it when we’ve noted and named
several techniques a writer uses to create an engaging story.
Class Work:
Read and analyze the story Black Blizzard
Research Notes for Historical Fiction Short Story
Homework:
Finish up your research and make sure that your
Research notes are completed.
